Make Me AN instrument: The Labyrinth Lab

Kun Fay kun. Be and it is.

This is the invitation to become a conscious collaborator with life. To create space for the beauty, wonder, healing, and service that can come through that relationship.

In the Sufi creation myth, the universe is not merely built. The world is sung or spoken into existence. The ancient Vedic seers called it Nada Brahma, the world as sound. Hazrat Inayat Khan taught that the whole of creation is music and that the human is an instrument through which that music longs to play. We each have our own unique creation song that is our own energy signature through which the Divine expresses itself.

A larger conversation is always happening around us and each of us has a unique way of participating. For the mystics even the idea of being an observer of a piece of music is not passive. Our energy ripples through the field and impresses upon the fabric of reality. This is the same way the presence of an observer in science changes what we are observing.
When it comes to the work of being an instrument we each have unique ways of knowing. Some receive images, symbols or impressions. Others connect through hearing sound, words and telepathic communication. The ones who are feelers tend to access more complexity in sensation and their felt senses. And then direct knowing may also be one of the stronger clairsenses depending on where you have the most access to the subtle. Then there are those who can be referred to as Extra-sensories because they are able to use any of the clairs and any other faculties that there may not even be names for. Becoming an instrument means learning how that conversation moves through you and tuning yourself so it can come through clearly.

The Labyrinth is a monthly practice space for deepening this relationship. It grows out of the Make Me an Instrument immersion and offers time to develop fluency, discernment and trust through direct experience and repetition. We call this working out in the spiritual gym. Something becomes available when we practice, notice, ask questions and return again and again.

I'm Ready

Make Me an Instrument Teaching Pillars

The Soul Remembers its Unique Sound.
The Sufi master Junayd was once asked why people who are calm and composed are stirred to tears or movement when they hear music. He answered that when souls were first addressed by the Divine in pre-eternity, they heard their call and its sweetness stayed with them. Music reminds the soul of the first sound it ever heard.
Your unique instrument is a part of the collaboration. Unlike some styles of channeling where you are simply a mouthpiece for other forms of intelligence, this work requires you to become more of yourself.

Imagination is a Divine Encounter.
Rooted in the Sufi tradition, this work honours the imagination as a mystical faculty. We release the programming of "just your imagination, “ and see it instead as an organ of perception. Ibn 'Arabi called it alam al-mithal, the world of images. The imaginal is theophanic, meaning a realm of encounter with the Absolute. A place of divine disclosure. It is in this space we may meet angels, guides, saints, the awliya (the friends of God) and the mystery of our own celestial counterpart.

The Imagination is Relational.
Although the imagination does give us access to ideas, poetry and creative insights the richness of that encounter itself is the point. Creativity, insight, healing and guidance blossom from the intimacy of genuine relating. The invitation is to approach the imaginal with the same care and reciprocity we bring to the Earth, so imagination doesn't become another terrain for the extraction matrix, another place to produce, perform or to prove our worth.

The Heart is the Central Axis.
Imagination is always a collaboration, and that collaboration happens through the heart. The aim is to be full of imagination but free from fantasy. So the quality of the heart sits at the centre of the practice. Cultivation of the heart through purification and remembrance and contemplation.

Genius as Receptive Collaboration.
There is mercy in remembering that we don't actually come up with everything on our own. The greatest inventors, poets, prophets and prophetesses often understood their genius not as something they made but as something they received. Shifting your inner state to meet a different frequency is a trainable skill and it opens the way to creativity, guidance, the Akashic Records, and the version of you that has already moved through what you're facing now.

What We Practice Together

The Lab includes partner practice, sharing and questions, along with work on boundaries, opening and closing intentionally, and staying connected to yourself while receiving and transmitting. That includes allowing intelligence to move through you without giving away your own agency. You stay in the room in this style of channeling. Be ready for uncertainty, for confusing experiences, and for times when nothing comes. "I don't know" is an essential part of the development of genuine discernment.

A Fine Tuned Instrument

This is not a path of becoming special. Becoming an instrument means recognizing how deeply you are woven into the ultimate Reality. Each of us carries a creation song. Our gifts, our nature, and our way of perceiving are how that song enters the world. Through practice, we learn to hear our own voice within the noise.
